The Raven

crescent_sunset

blackbird wait on the evening
blackbird wait on the dark
others mock to be caught in the nets
in recompense for their lark

nighttime comes in search of tomorrow
as darkness falls
a dark vision follows

so I swear this is the day
gonna make a breakaway
got to loose these chains or die
and free the captive child

l’ll learn to fly –
like a thief in the night
I’m leaving
and won’t look back
it’s easier that way

a distant figure in twilight
a muffled laugh in the dark
you know the face but you can’t place the name
something so familiar

no one sees me in darkness
no one dare shed a light
wishing for things as silly as wings
keeps the dream alive

I swear this is the day
gonna make a break away
got to loose these chains or die
and free the captive child

I’ll learn to fly
a thief in the night
I’m leaving
and won’t look back
it’s easier that way

I’ll fade away
lost in the gray
of the part that I play
and won’t look back
it’s easier that way
